Our Story

Strokes of Genius was started by my daughter, Elle, and I as a small market business in 2021, making and selling Paint by Number kits and other children’s crafts. As Paint by Numbers swept across the globe and became the new “in” adult craft, our little business grew far beyond our wildest imaginations.

Our aim is to offer a unique, fresh range every year, which means we seldom repeat designs from one year to the next. Choosing the pictures for our annual range is a true labour of love – months are spent poring over thousands of images to find the perfect collection, with something to appeal to every taste. Once we have chosen our final images, our manufacturers convert the images into Paint by Number designs. We then tweak and edit the artwork before signing it off, making sure our customers get the high quality painting result they have come to expect from us.

Since 2021, we have been incredibly fortunate to be selected by some of the biggest and most popular festive markets in South Africa. Markets have become the primary way we bring our kits to our customers, and you can find a list of all our 2026 markets on our 'Contact Us' page. But the good news is that you don't have to wait for a market to get your kits: our online shop allows our customers to buy our kits all year round.

We hope our Paint by Number kits bring you as much joy as we get from creating them.

Happy Painting!
